‘Hipotens’ on the path to improving health

‘Hypotens’ therapeutic horseback riding association has been focussing on improving physical, social and psychological well-being through riding for years, primarily of children with developmental disorders. For the past 2 years, the association has been developing a form of respiratory rehabilitation by horseback riding.

This procedure is based on the practice of proper breathing while riding a horse, which provides additional, unconscious stimulation of the respiratory musculature (deep paravertebral muscles, abdominal muscles and trunk muscles), that is generated by maintaining balance – balance on the horse’s back while riding. During the activities, the horse is guided by the horse handler, and the physical therapist creates the types of breathing exercises and their intensity while moving alongside the horse and the rider.
